Kyaukpyu is a major town located in Rakhine State in western Myanmar. It serves as the principal town of both Kyaukpyu Township and Kyaukpyu District. The town is situated on the northwestern corner of Yanbye Island on Combermere Bay, approximately 250 miles or 400 kilometres northwest of Yangon.
Informally referred to as the second capital of Rakhine State, Kyaukpyu is notable for its superb natural harbor. This location historically connects the rice trade between Calcutta and Yangon.
