Tessalit

Mali

Tessalit is a rural village and commune located in the Kidal Region of Mali. It serves as the administrative center of the Tessalit Cercle district. The village is situated approximately 85 kilometres north of Adjelhoc and about 70 kilometres from the Algerian border.

The commune covers an expansive area of roughly 30,000 square kilometres, which consists almost entirely of desert terrain. According to the 2009 census, the population of the commune was 5,739. Currently, the area is under the control of FLA and JNIM following the 2026 Mali offensives.
