Ansongo is a rural commune and small town located in the Gao Region of eastern Mali. It serves as the administrative center for the surrounding Ansongo Cercle.
The town is situated on the left bank of the Niger River, approximately 90 km south of Gao. The commune covers a total area of 445 square kilometers and recorded a population of 32,709 during the 2009 census.
