Bougouni is a commune and city located in Mali. It serves as the administrative center for both the Bougouni Cercle and the Bougouni Region. The city is situated approximately 170 km south of Bamako and 210 km west of Sikasso.
The commune covers an area of 7 square kilometres. According to the 2009 Census, it had a population of 59,679 people, consisting primarily of Fulas and Bambaras.
