Ségou is a town and urban commune located in south-central Mali. It is situated on the right bank of the River Niger, approximately 235 kilometres (146 mi) northeast of the capital city, Bamako.
The town serves as the administrative capital for both the Ségou Cercle and the Ségou Region. As of 2009, it had a population of 130,690 inhabitants, making it the fifth-largest town in Mali.
