Niono

Mali

Niono is a town and commune situated in the Ségou Region of Mali. It serves as the capital of the Niono Cercle, which is one of seven subdivisions within the region. The commune covers an area of approximately 491 square kilometers and encompasses the town along with 20 surrounding villages.

Geographically, Niono is located on the northwest edge of the Inner Niger Delta, positioned roughly 65 kilometers from the main channel of the Niger River. According to the 2009 census, the population of the commune was 91,554.
