Bandiagara is a small town and urban commune located in the Mopti Region of Mali. The name of the settlement translates roughly to "large eating bowl," which refers to the communal bowls used for serving meals.
The area features the Bandiagara Escarpment, which contains the highest point in the country. It is home to approximately 2,000 speakers of Bangime, a vibrant language isolate primarily utilized as an anti-language.
