Debar is a city located in the western region of North Macedonia, situated near the border with Albania along the road connecting Struga and Gostivar. It serves as the administrative seat of the Debar Municipality.
The city is characterized by its demographic composition, having an ethnic Albanian majority. Notably, it is the only city in North Macedonia where ethnic Macedonians do not rank first or second demographically. The official languages spoken in the municipality are Macedonian and Albanian.
