Gevgelija is a border town located in the southeastern region of North Macedonia. It serves as the administrative seat of the Gevgelija Municipality and is situated along the banks of the Vardar River.
The town is positioned at the country's primary border crossing with Greece, known as Bogorodica-Evzoni. This location serves as a key transport link connecting the motorway from Skopje—which also links to Belgrade, Zagreb, and Sofia—with Thessaloniki in Greece.
