Maintirano is a coastal city and urban municipality located in western Madagascar. Situated approximately 325 kilometres west of the national capital, Antananarivo, it serves as the capital of both the Maintirano district and the Melaky Region.
The city functions as a Catholic bishopric. It is characterized by its geographical position along the coast and its administrative role within the regional governance of Madagascar.
