Agadir is a major city located in Morocco on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. It is situated near the foot of the Atlas Mountains, just north of the point where the Souss River flows into the ocean, and approximately 509 kilometres (316 mi) south of Casablanca.
The city serves as the capital of the Souss-Massa region and is the seat of the Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane Prefecture.
