Demnate is a town situated in central Morocco at the foot of the high Atlas Mountains. It is located approximately 110 km east of Marrakesh and serves as a historic linking point between the Moroccan south and Marrakesh, making it one of the oldest cities in the southern region.
The local population primarily speaks Berber, specifically the Tashelheit dialect, alongside Darija and some French. The area surrounding Demnate is characterized by traditional Berber villages and diverse natural landmarks, including the Ouzoud Falls, dinosaur traces, and the Iminifery natural land bridge. Additionally, the mountain Rat, one of Morocco's highest peaks, is located a few miles southwest of the town.
