Sabratha is a city located in the Zawiya District of Libya, situated on the Mediterranean coast approximately 70 km (43 mi) west of modern Tripoli. It served as the capital of the former Sabratha wa Sorman District from 2001 to 2007.
Historically, the city was recognized as the westernmost of the three ancient cities that comprised Roman Tripolis, alongside Oea and Leptis Magna. The archaeological site at Sabratha is significant enough to have been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
