Vecāķi is a neighborhood located in the Northern District of Riga, the capital city of Latvia. It is situated along the shores of the Gulf of Riga, which is part of the Baltic Sea.
The area is bordered to the west by Vecdaugava, a partial oxbow lake. Due to this geography, Vecāķi provides access to both freshwater and brackish water bathing locations. The freshwater in Vecdaugava typically maintains a higher temperature during the summer months because of its smaller volume.
