Valmiera is a state city located in Latvia and serves as the seat of the Valmiera Municipality. It is the second largest city within the historical Vidzeme region, covering a total area of 19.35 square kilometres. As of 2020, the city had a population of 24,879.
One of the oldest cities in Latvia, Valmiera was historically a member of the Hanseatic League. It is notable for having the largest proportion of ethnic Latvians among all state cities in the country.
