Zorzor is a city located in Lofa County, Liberia. It serves as the second largest city within the county and functions as a local trade center for various agricultural products, including rice, cassava, pineapples, palm oil, and palm kernels.
The town is primarily inhabited by the Kpelle and Loma peoples. Notable landmarks in Zorzor include an American Lutheran church hospital, which was established in 1924 as the city's first medical facility, a leper colony, and a handicrafts workshop. The Zozor Rural Teacher Training institute is situated in the nearby town of Fisebu.
Geographically, Zorzor is located far from Liberia's capital, Monrovia. In the absence of motorized transport, the city is approximately a seven-day walk from the capital. Historically, the Lutheran hospital gained local acceptance following thirty-one years of service by American nurse Esther Bacon, who worked at the facility from 1941 until her death in 1972.
