Galle is a major city located on the southwestern tip of Sri Lanka. It is situated approximately 119 km (74 mi) south of the national capital, Colombo.
The city serves as the provincial capital and largest urban center of the Southern Province. Additionally, it functions as the administrative capital of the Galle District.
