Schaan is the largest municipality in the Principality of Liechtenstein by population. Located in the central part of the country to the north of the capital city, Vaduz, it serves as a significant industrial location and traffic hub for the nation. The municipality covers an area of 26.92 km2 (10.39 mi2), which includes various landscapes such as mountains and forests.
As of 2019, Schaan had a population of 6,039, making it the most populous administrative district in Liechtenstein. It is situated within the electoral district of Oberland and contains four distinct exclaves: Brunnenegg, Gritsch, Guschg, and Plankner Neugrütt.
