Chmistar, also spelled Shmustar or Shmistar, is a town located in the Baalbek-Hermel Governorate of Lebanon. It is situated on the eastern slope of Mount Sannine, positioned between the cities of Baalbeck and Zahleh.
The town sits at an altitude of 1,250 metres (4,100 ft) above sea level and overlooks the Bekaa Valley. Geographically, it is located approximately 75 km (47 mi) from Beirut and 21 km (13 mi) from Baalbek. According to a 2012 census, Chmistar has a population of 30,000 residents.
