Arkalyk

Arkalyk, also spelled Arqalyq, is a city located in the Kostanay Region of northern Kazakhstan. It was established in 1956 and officially acquired city status in 1965. The settlement historically served as the center of the Torgay Region before that administrative region was abolished in 1997.

The city is situated approximately 480 km (298 mi) from Qostanai and 670 km (416 mi) from Astana. Population figures for Arkalyk have been recorded at both 28,169 and 45,736.
