Zharkent is a city located in southeastern Kazakhstan within the Jetisu Region. It serves as the administrative center for the Panfilov District and is situated near the Usek River, which lies not far from the Ili River.
The city is positioned close to the border with Xinjiang, China. As of 2019, the population of Zharkent totaled 42,617 residents.
