Karkaraly, also known as Karkaralinsk, is the capital city of the Karkaraly District located in the Karaganda Region of Kazakhstan. The area originally saw permanent settlement begin as a Cossack settlement before evolving into a Kazakh cultural center.
The town's development was significantly influenced by its role as a host for the Koyandy Fair. As of 2009, the population of Karkaraly was recorded at 9,212 residents.
