Shelek, formerly known as Chilik, is a town located in the Almaty Region of south-eastern Kazakhstan. It serves as the administrative center of the Shelek rural district and is situated within the Chilik river valley.
The town is positioned approximately 69 km north-east of the center of Esik. Its official KATO code is 194083100.
