Little Cayman is one of the three islands that comprise the Cayman Islands, located in the Caribbean Sea. It is situated approximately 60 miles (96 km) northeast of East End on Grand Cayman and five miles (8 km) west of West End on Cayman Brac. The island measures about 10 miles (16 km) long with an average width of one mile (1,600 m), and the majority of its land remains undeveloped.
As the least populous of the three islands, Little Cayman has a permanent population of about 160 residents as of 2021. The demographic is primarily composed of expatriate workers from countries including Jamaica, the Philippines, Honduras, Canada, the USA, India, Australia, Scotland, England, and South Africa, with fewer than 20 local Caymanians residing on the island. Most of the land is at sea level, reaching a maximum elevation of approximately 40 feet.
The island experiences distinct seasonal weather patterns, with hot and dry conditions occurring from mid-June to mid-September and cooler temperatures between late November and mid-March. The rainy season consists of light showers occurring from mid-April to June and again from mid-September to mid-October. There are no large, predatory, or venomous animals on the island that pose a threat to humans.
