The East End refers to the historic core of wider East London, located in the United Kingdom. It is situated east of the Roman and medieval walls of the City of London and north of the River Thames.
While the area does not have universally accepted boundaries on its northern and eastern sides, the River Lea is sometimes identified as the easternmost limit. Portions of the East End may be considered to lie within Central London. The region is also occasionally referred to by the synonym "East of Aldgate Pump."
