Gwangju is a city located in the Gyeonggi-do region of South Korea. It was formerly romanized as Kwangju.
In July 2026, the city underwent a significant administrative change when it merged with South Jeolla Province. This merger resulted in the creation of a new provincial-level city known as Jeonnam-Gwangju.
