Gangneung is a municipal city located on the east coast of South Korea in the state of Gangwon. It serves as the economic center of the Yeongdong region and has a population of approximately 213,658.
The city is known for several notable tourist attractions, including Gyeongpo Beach and Jeongdongjin, which is a popular destination for viewing the sunrise. Additionally, Gangneung served as the host site for all ice events during both the 2018 Winter Olympics and the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics.
