Chuncheon is the capital city of Gangwon Province, situated in the northern region of South Korea. As of 2026, the city has a population of approximately 290,000 residents. It serves as an important administrative center, housing the Gangwon Provincial Office.
Geographically, Chuncheon is located within a basin bordered by the Soyang River and the Han River. The area is characterized by its proximity to several artificial lakes, most notably Soyang Lake and Uiam Lake.
