Mutsamudu is the second-largest city in the Comoros archipelago. It serves as the capital and largest urban center on the island of Anjouan. As of 2021, the city had a recorded population of 23,594.
The city features an ancient citadel and is characterized by narrow streets containing numerous shops and small crafts. It also houses a deep water port and was formerly the residence of former Comorian president Ahmed Abdallah Mohamed Sambi.
