Banlung is the capital city of Ratanakiri Province, located in northeastern Cambodia. It is situated approximately 636 kilometres from the national capital of Phnom Penh. The province it serves borders both Vietnam and Laos.
The town was formerly known as Banlung district before it was officially granted town status. Currently, Banlung has a population of around 17,000 people, while the surrounding district has a population of approximately 23,888.
