The Tayan are an indigenous people from Taiwan. They represent approximately 15.9% of the island's total indigenous population, making them the third-largest indigenous group in the country. The population is estimated to be around 90,000 people.
While "Atayal" is the official English translation used by the Taiwanese government for documentation, the preferred endonym for the group is "Tayal." They are also commonly referred to as the Tayal or the Tayan.
