Osh is the second-largest city in Kyrgyzstan, situated in the southern part of the country within the Fergana Valley. Frequently referred to as the "capital of the south," it holds the distinction of being the oldest city in Kyrgyzstan and has served as the administrative center of the Osh Region since 1939.
The city is characterized by its ethnically diverse population, which totaled 322,164 residents in 2021. This demographic mix includes significant numbers of Kyrgyz, Uzbeks, Ukrainians, Koreans, and several other smaller ethnic groups.
