Kochkor is a large village located in the northern Naryn Region of Kyrgyzstan at an altitude of 1,800 meters. It serves as the administrative center of the Kochkor District. The settlement was originally established in 1909 under the name Stolypino before being renamed to Kochkor in 1917. As of 2021, the village had a population of 11,373.
The village is situated on the main A365 highway, which connects Bishkek to the Torugart Pass in China. The A367 highway branches off approximately 7 km west of Kochkor toward the Ferghana Valley and Jalal-Abad Region. Notable nearby landmarks include the Orto-Tokoy reservoir, located about 25 km northeast along the main highway, and the town of Balykchy on Lake Issyk-Kul, situated roughly 45 km to the northeast.
Kochkor serves as a base for excursions into the high country and features relatively well-developed tourist infrastructure. The village also houses a regional museum.
