Kitale is a town located in the northwestern region of Kenya within Trans Nzoia County. Prior to the establishment of the 2010 constitution, the area was part of the former Rift Valley province. The town is situated at an elevation of approximately 1,900 metres, positioned geographically between Mount Elgon and the Cherang'any Hills.
As of 2019, the population of Kitale was recorded at 162,174. The town serves as a regional hub and is notably home to Kitale Airport.
