Mombasa is a coastal city located in southeastern Kenya along the Indian Ocean. It serves as the capital of Mombasa County and holds the distinction of being the country's oldest city. According to the 2019 census, the city has a population of approximately 1,208,333 people.

Historically, Mombasa was the first capital of British East Africa before Nairobi assumed that role in 1907. It currently stands as the second-largest city in Kenya. The architecture within the Central Business District is characterized by buildings painted in blue and white to represent the Indian Ocean.
