Githunguri is an agricultural town located in Kiambu County within central Kenya's former Central Province. It serves as one of the primary administrative centers for the county and is characterized by its significant role in the region's agricultural economy.
The town is home to Fresha, which is recognized as one of East Africa's largest dairy processing plants. The facility is owned by the Githunguri Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society. Additionally, Githunguri hosts a variety of financial institutions, including TAI Sacco Ltd, GDC Sacco, KCB, Family Bank, Equity Bank, Absa Bank, and Cooperative Bank.
