Athi River is a town located in the Machakos County region of Kenya. Situated just outside the capital city of Nairobi, it serves as a notable residential and commercial area within the county.
The town derives its name from the Athi River, which flows through the vicinity. It is also commonly referred to by the name Mavoko.
