Thika is an industrial town and commercial hub located in Kenya's Kiambu County. It is situated on the A2 road, approximately 42 kilometres northeast of Nairobi, near the confluence of the Thika and Chania Rivers. The town sits at an elevation of about 1,631 metres (5,351 ft).
While the administrative center of Thika town is in Kiambu County, the broader Thika area includes several residential zones that fall within Murang'a County. These areas include Bendor estate, Maporomoko, Thika Greens, Thika Golden Pearl, Bahati Ridge, and the Thika Sports Golf Club. As of the 2019 National Census, the town had a population of 279,429 and continues to experience rapid growth.
