Zaisho is a stony-iron pallasite meteorite that fell in Japan during February 1898. The fall was documented by observers on the ground and occurred in the city of Kami, located within the Kōchi Prefecture on the island of Shikoku.
The meteorite weighs approximately 0.33kg (12oz) and is characterized by a rare composition primarily consisting of iron-rich phosphoran olivine and pyroxene. It also contains smaller traces of minerals including stanfieldite, farringtonite, troilite, schreibersite, chromite, and mg-phosphate.
Zaisho is notable as one of only two confirmed meteorite landings on the island of Shikoku. As of 2019, it remains one of only four known pallasite falls globally, alongside Marjalahti, Mineo, and Omolon. The main mass of the meteorite is currently held in a private collection and is not available to the public.
