Yonakuni

Japan

Yonaguni is a Japanese island located in the Yaeyama Islands chain. It serves as the westernmost point of Japan, situated between the East China Sea and the Philippine Sea. At its closest point, the island is separated from Taiwan by only 107.4 kilometers.

Administratively, Yonaguni is organized as a town within the Yaeyama Gun of Okinawa Prefecture. The island contains three primary settlements: Sonai, Kubura, and Higawa. To support local tourism, there have been ongoing discussions regarding the establishment of direct ferry services connecting the island to Taiwan.
