Gushikawa is a city located in the Okinawa Prefecture of Japan. It was originally founded in the 17th century under the name Gushichā Magiri. The area eventually became known as Gushikawa village in 1908 following the annexation of the Ryūkyū Kingdom by Japan and the subsequent abolition of the Magiri system.
The city was officially elevated to city status on July 1, 1968. One of its notable historical features is Agena Castle, which was built within the region.
