Yonezawa is a city located in the Yamagata Prefecture of Japan. As of February 1, 2020, the city had an estimated population of 81,707 residents living in 33,278 households. It covers a total area of 548.51 square kilometres, resulting in a population density of approximately 150 persons per square kilometre.
The city is historically significant as a castle town that served as the home for the Uesugi clan, which included the daimyō Uesugi Yozan. Additionally, Yonezawa is well-known for its local delicacies.
