Tsuruoka is a city located in the Yamagata Prefecture of Japan. It serves as a significant geographical landmark in the northern part of the country, specifically within the Tōhoku region.
The city covers a total area of 1,311.53 square kilometres and is notable for being the largest city in the Tōhoku region in terms of land area.
