Kashihara is a city located in the Nara Prefecture of Japan. As of October 1, 2024, the city has an estimated population of 118,674 residing in 56,013 households, with a population density of approximately 3,000 persons per square kilometer. The total land area of the city is 39.56 square kilometers.
The city contains several historical sites included on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List under "The Asuka and Fujiwara Imperial Capitals and Related Properties." Notable locations within these listings include the remains of Fujiwara-kyō, the Hon-Yakushi-ji temple ruins, Maruyama Kofun, and the Yamato Sanzan.
