Miyakonojō is a city located in the Miyazaki Prefecture of Japan. As of November 1, 2023, the city had an estimated population of 158,235 residents living in 72,394 households.
The city covers a total area of 653.36 km² (252.26 sq mi), resulting in a population density of approximately 240 persons per km². Due to its size, Miyakonojō is the largest city in Miyazaki Prefecture by land area.
