Kesennuma

Kesennuma is a city located in the Miyagi Prefecture of Japan. As of August 1, 2020, the city had an estimated population of 59,803 residents living in 26,390 households. The municipality covers a total area of 332.44 square kilometres (128.36 sq mi), resulting in a population density of approximately 190 inhabitants per square kilometre.

The city experienced significant destruction on March 11, 2011, due to the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. Large sections of Kesennuma were impacted by these events as well as major fires that occurred during the disaster.
