Yokohama is a major city located in the Kanagawa Prefecture of Japan's Kantō region on the main island of Honshu. Situated on Tokyo Bay south of Tokyo, it serves as the capital and most populous municipality in its prefecture. It is recognized as the country's most populous municipality and ranks as the second-largest city in Japan by both population and area.

The city functions as a primary economic, cultural, and commercial hub for the Greater Tokyo Area along the Keihin Industrial Zone. As of 2023, Yokohama had a population of 3.7 million people, a figure that remained steady into 2026 despite a gradual decrease during 2025.
