Sagamihara

Sagamihara is a city located in the Kanagawa Prefecture of Japan. It serves as a significant urban center within the region, ranking as the third-most populous city in the prefecture, following Yokohama and Kawasaki. Additionally, it is recognized as the fifth most populous suburb within the Greater Tokyo Area.

As of May 1, 2021, the city has an estimated population of 723,470 residents living in 334,812 households. The city covers a total area of 328.91 square kilometres (126.99 sq mi), resulting in a population density of approximately 1,220 persons per km2. Geographically, Sagamihara is bordered to the north by Machida, with whom a cross-prefectural merger has been proposed.
