Obihiro is a city located in the Tokachi Subprefecture of Hokkaidō, Japan. It serves as a significant municipality within the region, characterized by an estimated population of 159,294 people across 90,105 households as of December 31, 2025. The city covers a total area of 619.34 km² (239.13 sq mi), resulting in a population density of approximately 257 people per km².

The city is notably larger than its neighbors; for instance, the adjacent town of Otofuke is the next most populous municipality in Tokachi but contains less than one-third of Obihiro's population. In 2008, Obihiro was officially designated as a "model environmental city" in Japan.
