Kitakyushu is a city located in the Fukuoka Prefecture of Japan. As of 2019, it had an estimated population of 940,978, making it the second-largest city on the island of Kyushu and within the Fukuoka Prefecture, following the city of Fukuoka.
The city is one of Japan's 20 designated cities and one of only three such cities located on the island of Kyushu. It is administratively divided into seven wards.
